Disinfection Simulation Applet

This applet simulates disinfection of an innoculum of bacteria in a growth medium. Nutrient and biocide concentrations can be altered, as can diffusion speeds. Diffusion is simulated by simple "random walk" Brownian motion.

Running the Applet

To view this applet, you will need a recent (Java J2SE 6 or later) version of Java. Webstart will allow you download the latest version if necessary. Click on the screen shot of the applet to run the application.

The "Simulation" tab of the applet shows the random-walk arena. Biocide is shown as pale green dots, nutrient as brown dots. The bacteria are represented by mobile "worms" which change colour as their integrity becomes "compromised" by biocode.

The "Population" tab (not visible in the screenshot) graphs the population and concentrations against time.
