Use of S/MIME Email

Four Delta considers security and authenticity to be extremely important. All emails from Four Delta employees are signed using an S/MIME email certificate. These certificates are in turn signed by the Four Delta Root Certificate Authority

It is unlikely that your email software is aware of this authority, and as a result you may see warnings from your software about unverifiable signatures or similar. If you wish to avoid these warnings and ensure that email from the Four Delta domain is authentic, you should take the following steps:

1. Download the Four Delta Root Certificate Authority (DER) certificate. If your software does not recognise the binary DER encoding, you can also try the Four Delta Root Certificate Authority (PEM) certificate - this provides exactly the same secure certificate information in a different encoding which may be better supported by your software.
2. Verify the certificate fingerprint with a Four Delta employee. This step protects you against (amongst other things) man-in-the-middle attacks.
3. Install the verified certificate into your software. You should be aware that by doing this you are trusting Four Delta to authenticate any certificate signed by us, and you should understand the potential security implications of doing so.

Unfortunately the details of how to configure your software are specific to the system you are using, so we cannot give specific assistance here. Please refer to the instructions below for installation on Windows XP.

Opening and Verifying the Four Delta Root Certificate

After downloading the Four Delta Root Certificate Authority certificate, you may need to double click on the certificate to start the installation process.
